These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases made from ALSO Antique Furniture Ltd. Please read them carefully before placing an order.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
About us
ALSO Antiques is a trading name of ALSO Antique Furniture Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15141527.
We sell antique and vintage furniture and decorative objects through our website and by appointment from our premises in North Yorkshire.
Our pieces
The nature of antique and vintage furniture means that every piece is individual and will generally show evidence of its age and previous use.
Wear, old repairs, marks, variations in colour, movement in timber and other imperfections are often part of a piece's history and character and should be expected when purchasing antique furniture.
We inspect each item individually and endeavour to identify and describe any condition issues that materially affect its appearance, integrity or usefulness.
Descriptions, attribution & provenance
We take considerable care in researching and describing the pieces we offer for sale.
Statements concerning an item's age, date, period, maker, attribution, origin or provenance are made in good faith and represent our professional opinion based upon the information available to us at the time of listing.
Where something is uncertain, we will endeavour to make this clear in the description.
Photographs & measurements
Each item is individually photographed and the photographs form part of its description. We aim to represent colour, condition and appearance as accurately as reasonably possible, although colours may vary slightly depending upon lighting, photography and the screen on which images are viewed.
Measurements are provided as accurately as possible but should be treated as approximate. If a particular measurement is important — for example, to ensure that a piece will fit through a doorway or into a particular space — please contact us before purchasing and we will be happy to check it for you.

Prices & payment
All prices shown on our website are in pounds sterling.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, delivery is not included in the price of an item and will be quoted separately.
Payment must be made using one of the payment methods offered at checkout or otherwise agreed with us.
Placing an order
Placing an order through our website constitutes an offer to purchase the item.
Your order is accepted, and a contract between us is formed, when we confirm that we have accepted your order.
As our pieces are individual, one-off items, we make every effort to ensure that an item shown as available has not already been sold. In the unlikely event that an item is no longer available after an order has been placed, we will let you know as soon as possible and refund any payment you have made.
Delivery & collection
Collection from our premises is welcome by prior arrangement. We can also usually arrange delivery throughout mainland UK using trusted independent furniture couriers.
Delivery charges, timescales, access requirements and other arrangements are explained in our separate Delivery & Collection policy, which forms part of these Terms & Conditions.
Customers are responsible for checking that an item will fit into its intended location and through any doorways, staircases or other restricted access points.
Risk & ownership
Ownership of an item passes to you once we have received payment in full.
Responsibility for an item passes to you when it has been delivered to you, or to a person you have identified to take possession of it.
Where you arrange your own independent courier or carrier to collect an item from us, different rules concerning responsibility for the item may apply depending upon the circumstances and your statutory rights.
Cancellations & returns
Your rights to cancel an order and return an item are set out in our separate Returns & Cancellations policy.
For qualifying distance purchases, consumers will normally have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of receiving the item.
The statutory right to cancel a distance contract does not generally apply where an item is purchased in person at our premises after viewing it. This does not affect your rights where an item is faulty or not as described.
Damaged, faulty or incorrectly described items
If you believe that an item has arrived damaged, is faulty, or is materially different from its description, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
We may ask you to provide photographs or other information to help us understand the issue. Where appropriate, we will arrange a suitable remedy in accordance with your statutory rights.
Viewing before purchase
Viewing is welcome by appointment at our premises in North Yorkshire, close to the Lancashire border.
We encourage customers who are able to visit to inspect pieces personally and we are happy to discuss their construction, condition, history and any restoration before purchase.
If you cannot visit, we are equally happy to answer questions or provide further photographs, measurements or condition information.
Our liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
We are not responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen when the contract was formed, or for losses arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any rights or remedies available to you under applicable consumer law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The terms applying to your purchase will be those in force when your order is placed.
Governing law
These Terms & Conditions, and any contract between you and us, are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you will also retain any rights you have under the applicable law relating to where you live.
