An attractive Victorian Sheraton Revival serpentine cabinet dating from the late 19th century, finished in simulated rosewood with charming hand-painted landscape panels to the doors and drawer. Elegant proportions and compact size make it ideal as a bedside cupboard, lamp cabinet, side cabinet or occasional piece.
The cabinet features a serpentine front with a shaped frieze drawer above a pair of cupboard doors enclosing a useful shelved interior. It stands on elegant square tapering legs and retains its original decorative character, with the hand-painted scenes providing a particularly appealing feature.
A versatile decorative cabinet that works equally well in a bedroom, sitting room or hallway.

CONDITION
A decorative antique cabinet with the expected signs of age and use. The painted finish displays light marks, knocks and scratches, mainly to the top surface, together with a couple of light ring marks.
There are historic splits around the hinges of the hinged top which appear to have been securely glued and remain stable in use. The top opens and closes correctly with careful handling. The lock to the hinged top has no key but is currently unlocked.
The cupboard retains a working lock with key. There is a small loss to the beading at the lower right-hand door together with some attractive age-related craquelure to the painted decoration. Overall, it presents well with an appealing patina and is a practical, decorative piece of Victorian furniture.

ABOUT ALSO
Thank you for viewing this piece from Also Antique Furniture.
We carefully select antique furniture and decorative objects for their quality, craftsmanship, character and individuality. Our tastes are broad, and we’re happy to be led by the piece rather than a particular period or style. Above all, we choose things we genuinely admire and would be happy to have in our own home.
Every item is individually inspected, researched and professionally photographed, with clear descriptions and honest condition reports to help you buy with confidence.
We believe good furniture should have a long life. Choosing antique keeps well-made furniture and existing materials in use, and we favour sympathetic restoration that preserves the patina and character acquired over generations.

AUTHENTICITY & CONDITION
We strive to describe every item as accurately and honestly as possible. Statements regarding age, attribution, origin and provenance are offered in good faith and represent our professional opinion based on the information available at the time of listing.
As all of our items are antique or vintage, signs of age and use should be expected. Old repairs, knocks, wear, variations in colour and other minor imperfections are often part of a piece’s history and character. Where condition affects its integrity, appearance or usefulness, we will endeavour to make this clear in the description.
