DESCRIPTION
A handsome Regency black painted and parcel gilt demi-lune console table dating from the early nineteenth century, circa 1820.
The substantial semi-circular top is raised on elegant turned and tapering legs united by a decorative frieze centred with a finely carved and parcel gilt musical trophy, flanked by gilt floral panels within moulded reserves. The contrasting black painted finish and restrained gilt decoration are characteristic of the Regency taste, giving the table a refined neoclassical appearance.
Of generous proportions, this table would work equally well in a hallway beneath a mirror, as a console table in a drawing room, or as a decorative side table. The elegant design and attractive original decoration make it a versatile piece for both period and contemporary interiors.
DIMENSIONS
Height: 81 cm

CONDITION
There are the expected marks, knocks and scratches commensurate with age and use. The black painted finish displays wear and rubbing, particularly to the front edge of the top, together with minor losses to the parcel gilt decoration, consistent with the age of the piece. There is evidence of historic inactive woodworm to the underside of the rear edge of the top. Structurally sound throughout with an attractive colour and authentic patina.

ABOUT ALSO ANTIQUE FURNITURE
Thank you for viewing this piece from Also Antique Furniture.
We carefully select antique furniture and decorative objects for their quality, craftsmanship, character and individuality. Our tastes are broad, and we’re happy to be led by the piece rather than a particular period or style. Above all, we choose things we genuinely admire and would be happy to have in our own home.
Every item is individually inspected, researched and professionally photographed, with clear descriptions and honest condition reports to help you buy with confidence.
We believe good furniture should have a long life. Choosing antique keeps well-made furniture and existing materials in use, and we favour sympathetic restoration that preserves the patina and character acquired over generations.

AUTHENTICITY & CONDITION
We strive to describe every item as accurately and honestly as possible. Statements regarding age, attribution, origin and provenance are offered in good faith and represent our professional opinion based on the information available at the time of listing.
As all of our items are antique or vintage, signs of age and use should be expected. Old repairs, knocks, wear, variations in colour and other minor imperfections are often part of a piece’s history and character. Where condition affects its integrity, appearance or usefulness, we will endeavour to make this clear in the description.
