DESCRIPTION

A handsome late nineteenth-century mahogany breakfront glazed bookcase in the George III Gothic Revival style.

The upper frieze is finely decorated with reeded mouldings and satinwood lattice line inlay above three glazed doors fitted with elegant Gothic arched astragals. The breakfront form provides pleasing architectural proportions while offering generous display and storage space across a series of fixed shelves.

Raised on shaped bracket feet and retaining a rich mahogany colour and attractive patina, the bookcase is supplied with a working key.

A practical and decorative antique bookcase, equally suited to displaying books, ceramics or collections in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

CONDITION

The bookcase is in good antique condition, displaying the expected marks, knocks and scratches associated with age and use. It retains a rich colour and attractive overall patina.

 

The working key is present. Two panes of glass are missing, as shown in the photographs. There is minor wear consistent with age, but the cabinet remains structurally sound and presents very well overall.

    We can usually arrange delivery throughout mainland UK using trusted independent couriers. Delivery is charged at cost, and quotations are available on request. As a general guide, delivery for an average-sized chest of drawers is typically between £80 and £100. Larger items and more remote locations will incur higher charges.

    Most deliveries are completed within approximately two weeks, although faster delivery may sometimes be available. Please contact us with your postcode for a delivery quotation before purchasing.

    Collections are welcomed by prior arrangement from our address in North Yorkshire.
