Impressive Large Brazilian Pietre Dure Style Marble Panel Toucans
DESCRIPTION
An impressive and exceptionally large 20th-century Brazilian pietre dure-style marble panel, depicting two toucans amongst tropical foliage and trees.
 
The composition is formed from contrasting coloured stone and marble, set against a pale marble ground within an arched reserve. The panel is housed within a substantial carved and decorated frame, giving the piece considerable architectural and decorative presence.
 
Originating from Bahia, Brazil, this is a particularly striking decorative work, standing 133cm high and almost a metre wide. The combination of its large scale, exotic bird subject and natural stone construction makes it an impressive statement piece for an entrance hall, orangery, garden room or other large interior.
 
The piece is extremely substantial and heavy, weighing approximately 60kg. The rear construction incorporates a projecting section which appears to have been designed to allow the panel to be recessed or incorporated into a wall or studwork.

CONDITION
The panel is in good overall condition. There are marks, knocks and scratches commensurate with age and use, together with some wear and distressed areas to the frame.

    Collection is welcome by arrangement.

     

    We can usually arrange delivery throughout mainland UK using trusted independent furniture couriers, charged at cost. As a general guide, delivery for an average-sized chest of drawers is typically £80–£100. Larger items and more remote locations will incur higher charges.

     

    Most deliveries are completed within approximately two weeks, although faster delivery may sometimes be available. Standard delivery is to the ground floor unless otherwise agreed, and the courier will normally contact you in advance with the proposed delivery arrangements.
