DESCRIPTION
A substantial and impressive early 20th-century mahogany twin-pedestal sideboard in the Adam Revival manner, of unusually generous proportions and with particularly attractive carved neoclassical decoration.
The long breakfront top is surmounted by a raised half-gallery and sits above an arrangement of drawers, including a projecting central drawer. The drawer fronts are decorated with carved floral and scrolling ornament, complemented by reeded detailing and beaded mouldings.
The two pedestal cupboards are each centred by a large panelled door richly decorated with carved neoclassical swags, ribbons and paterae. The whole is raised on boldly carved paw feet, giving the sideboard a particularly strong and architectural appearance.
The mahogany has developed an attractive deep colour and the restrained Adam Revival ornament gives the piece considerably more character than a conventional pedestal sideboard of the period.
A handsome statement piece offering substantial storage and particularly well suited to a large dining room, entrance hall or period interior.

CONDITION
The sideboard is in good, honest condition overall, with marks, knocks, scratches and wear commensurate with age and use.
There is a noticeable gouge to the top surface, together with the usual minor surface marks and wear associated with a piece of this age. The carved decoration and overall appearance remain very attractive.

ABOUT ALSO
Thank you for viewing this piece from Also Antique Furniture.
We carefully select antique furniture and decorative objects for their quality, craftsmanship, character and individuality. Our tastes are broad, and we’re happy to be led by the piece rather than a particular period or style. Above all, we choose things we genuinely admire and would be happy to have in our own home.
Every item is individually inspected, researched and professionally photographed, with clear descriptions and honest condition reports to help you buy with confidence.
We believe good furniture should have a long life. Choosing antique keeps well-made furniture and existing materials in use, and we favour sympathetic restoration that preserves the patina and character acquired over generations.

AUTHENTICITY & CONDITION
We strive to describe every item as accurately and honestly as possible. Statements regarding age, attribution, origin and provenance are offered in good faith and represent our professional opinion based on the information available at the time of listing.
As all of our items are antique or vintage, signs of age and use should be expected. Old repairs, knocks, wear, variations in colour and other minor imperfections are often part of a piece’s history and character. Where condition affects its integrity, appearance or usefulness, we will endeavour to make this clear in the description.
