Georgian mahogany bachelor's chest of drawers
DESCRIPTION
This is a handsome George III period mahogany bachelor’s chest of drawers, circa 1770, of desirable compact proportions. Featuring a rectangular top with moulded edges that oversails at the rear, above a brushing slide and four graduated long drawers, all with oak linings and brass swan-neck handles with pierced backplates. The drawer fronts showcase beautifully figured flame mahogany veneers. Raised on well-formed bracket feet.

CONDITION
There are minor marks, knocks and scratches commensurate with age and use. The moulding on the left hand side of the top sits a little off-square at the front corner and the brushing slide runs a little stiff. The handles are period replacements. There are signs of minor, skilful restoration, including patches of veneer repair and a replacement to one of the runners for the brushing slide. There are minor splits in some of the drawer linings, which are all oak. The joints are solid and the drawers run freely. The chest has a rich colour and patina and overall it is a charming and usable piece.

    We can usually arrange delivery with a third party courier on behalf of the buyer. Typical costs are around £80 - £100 within mainland UK for an average-sized chest of drawers and may take up to 14 days, unless an expediated service is required. Costs will be higher for larger items and remote locations. Although we do everything possible to ensure that items arrive safely, we cannot be held responsible for damage incurred after items leave our premises.
