DESCRIPTION

A fine George III bow-front hanging corner cabinet dating from the mid to late eighteenth century, veneered in richly figured plum pudding mahogany with satinwood crossbanding.

The cabinet has a moulded cornice above a pair of bowed doors opening to a shelved interior. The distinctive bow-fronted form is less commonly encountered than standard angular corner cupboards, giving the piece a more refined appearance while making full use of the corner space. The beautifully figured mahogany veneers are framed by satinwood crossbanding, demonstrating the restrained elegance associated with good-quality late Georgian cabinet making.

The cabinet provides practical storage whilst retaining the clean architectural lines that make Georgian furniture so versatile in both period and contemporary interiors. It would work equally well in a dining room, drawing room, hallway, study or kitchen.

The cabinet retains what appears to be its original lock together with a working key.
