DESCRIPTION

An elegant French-style gilt metal six-light chandelier, richly decorated with scrolling foliage and hung with faceted glass drops.

The chandelier is centred by a tall openwork stem with a cylindrical upper section, rope-twist collar and cascading pressed acanthus leaf decoration. Six scrolling foliate branches extend from the body, each terminating in a candle-form electric light fitting and embellished with further leaf ornament.

A selection of faceted glass drops hangs amongst the scrolling metalwork, catching the light and providing a pleasing contrast with the softly aged gilt finish. The chandelier is suspended from a chain and retains its ceiling fitting.

An attractive and highly decorative light with a particularly good sculptural silhouette.

CONDITION

Good decorative condition overall, with general surface wear, tarnishing and variation to the gilt finish consistent with age and use. The candle covers require replacement. The glass drops appear to comprise a mixture of forms and there may be some losses or replacements; please refer carefully to the photographs.

The chandelier is wired for electricity but, as with all vintage and pre-owned electrical fittings, the wiring should be inspected and approved by a suitably qualified electrician before installation or use.

We can usually arrange delivery throughout mainland UK using trusted independent couriers, charged at cost. As a general guide, delivery for an average-sized chest of drawers is typically £80–£100. Larger items and more remote locations will incur higher charges.
