DESCRIPTION
A charming Continental painted and gilt two-tier étagère or side table, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. With its elegant proportions, shaped tiers and hand-painted decoration, it makes a particularly attractive occasional table for both traditional and more eclectic interiors.
The shaped upper tier is decorated with a romantic figural scene of a young woman within a landscape, with an indistinct signature and date to the lower right. The lower tier is similarly hand painted with a landscape scene. Both are supported on slender turned uprights with a distressed gilt-painted finish, terminating in elegant splayed feet.
A highly decorative and unusual piece, ideally suited as a lamp table, bedside table or occasional table.
DIMENSIONS

CONDITION
The table is in good, solid condition and presents very well, retaining an attractive aged and decorative finish.
There are light marks, scratches, knocks and areas of wear to the painted and gilt decoration commensurate with age and use. One of the supports has been historically re-fixed to the upper tier and is secure. The naturally aged and slightly distressed finish complements the character of the piece and it remains both attractive and practical for use.
As with all antique and vintage furniture, this piece has been used and enjoyed over many years and should be expected to show signs of age and use. We aim to describe any significant faults, repairs or alterations as accurately and honestly as possible. The photographs form an important part of the description and should be viewed alongside the written condition report. If you would like further information or additional photographs, we are always happy to help before purchase. If there are any critical dimensions then please check these with us before purchase.

ABOUT ALSO
Thank you for viewing this piece from Also Antique Furniture.
We carefully select antique furniture and decorative objects for their quality, craftsmanship, character and individuality. Our tastes are broad, and we’re happy to be led by the piece rather than a particular period or style. Above all, we choose things we genuinely admire and would be happy to have in our own home.
Every item is individually inspected, researched and professionally photographed, with clear descriptions and honest condition reports to help you buy with confidence.
We believe good furniture should have a long life. Choosing antique keeps well-made furniture and existing materials in use, and we favour sympathetic restoration that preserves the patina and character acquired over generations.
VIEWING
Viewing is welcome by appointment at our premises in North Yorkshire, on the border with Lancashire. If there is anything you would like to know before purchasing, we are always happy to answer questions or provide additional photographs.

Most deliveries are completed within approximately two weeks, although faster delivery may sometimes be available. Please contact us with your postcode for a delivery quotation before purchasing.
AUTHENTICITY & CONDITION
We strive to describe every item as accurately and honestly as possible. Statements regarding age, attribution, origin and provenance are offered in good faith and represent our professional opinion based on the information available at the time of listing.
As all of our items are antique or vintage, signs of age and use should be expected. Old repairs, knocks, wear, variations in colour and other minor imperfections are often part of a piece’s history and character. Where condition affects its integrity, appearance or usefulness, we will endeavour to make this clear in the description.
