Condition
There are knocks, stains and scratches commensurate with age and use. There is a repair to the top right hand corner of the cornice and a split to the right hand return. There are historic repaired splits to the sides and base of the upper section, and some historic woodworm to the back. The back boards of the upper section are later. The drawer handles are replacements and there is evidence of previous handles visible. There are losses around the edges of the drawer fronts. A precautionary modern fixing bracket has been affixed to the back to stabilise the upper and lower sections together – the top section is removable and fits into two slots on either side of the base.
The dresser has a very attractive colour and patina. The drawers run smoothly and the piece is sound.
